Getting Started
How to grow your pop up garden at home
With Gro-Box nothing is left to chance when it comes to getting you growing amazing flowers, vegetables and herbs.
Gro Box really is a "No Mess No Fuss" way of growing from home. Follow these simple instructions and in no time at all you'll be growing and. eating your very own veggies! Gro Box provides enough compost and space to grow and our fab pots can be used again and again and are environmentally friendly but the benefits go much further than that.
Unlike plastic pots that result in plants becoming ‘pot bound’, our fabric pots actually encourage better root development through a process of ‘air pruning’.
As the roots of your plants grow through the side of the pot, it prunes the root which encourages new root growth, ultimately promoting bigger, better and stronger root systems, which guess what, give your better plants and veggies.
Our fabric pots prevent over heating and sweating and actively aid drainage meaning you’ll never over water your plants.
Air pruning happens naturally when roots are exposed to air in the absence of high-humidity. The roots are effectively ‘burned’ off, causing the plant to constantly produce new and healthy branching roots. This in turn promotes healthy plant growth and of course more importantly, healthy delicious crops to harvest!
Instructions
Remove outer sleeve and turn lid upside down (the lid acts as a pot tray to capture any water that may escape from the main box).
Place box inside upturned lid. Remove the packet of seeds and planting guide (Gro-Spacer).
Using a measuring jug start pouring 8 litres of warm (but not hot) water.
As the water is absorbed the cell will start to open and grow revealing your compost. Leave for 30 minutes to fully absorb any residual water. After the water is absorbed just get you hands in and fluff up the soil.
Now the fun part. Decide what you're going to grow first and find out what colour list it's listed on your spacer guide. These are the coloured spaces you will plant your seeds in for perfect spacing! Place the GroBox Spacer on top of the already watered compost.
Make a small hole about 10mm deep with your finger and place a couple of your chosen seeds in the holes, then remove the spacer, gently cover the holes and wait for your crops to grow!
